Losing track of days can be for good or bad reasons. Bad is what they were, like not sleeping well. Light bulbs needing replacement can be a concern. The table lamp is no problem, but the ones in the bathroom take maintenance. Conveniently maintenance could also unclog the kitchen sink. The garbage disposal didn’t work, either. A new one was needed, he said after some messing with it. It was an unplanned visit while the mind was on getting stuff ready for coming Avon visit.
Older friend put in the kitchen light in an unexpected visit Wednesday. A neighbor was asked to water the plants, and in doing so got water not only all over the table but the floor elsewhere as well. Another neighbor helped clean it all up. And, maybe a reason days have lost their identity is because supper has been at midnight or after to match lunch hours at four in the afternoon and breakfasts at eleven each morning, unavoidably. That’s a disoriented existence and not good.
The new person to help came Wednesday. It seemed to go well for a first visit. She’ll come again. Lunch lady’s back on the job. Young friend may come this week. He’s needed. It isn’t easy to line things up when things happen and internet rides high in mind as the bill didn’t come as expected, plus instability seems to be a part of the connection. The rents need to be paid and the lease renewal is due very soon. That means sessions in the office. The week was confused time.
Autumn is coming.
Aide service (but for much pay) just may be in the works, but that isn’t clearly sure until Wednesday. Older friend helped with some of the chores on Saturday. That was because a nice little treat, a picnic lunch, came yesterday. While that was eaten in the apartment instead of outside, it could have been taken outside. Still on the matter of eats, Saturday a local restaurant that offered to deliver to the building was called and may be tried this week. Lunch lady was still off sick.
Although it may not amount to much, the aide service business (it’s a government thing) was finally sent off for government inquiry. There are a couple more things to possibly do. The big problem with hiring it done is that the companies that do that type of work usually won’t come for an hour or so. And, they also want regular clientele. There’s another difficulty now going into high gear regarding security checking (lacking better description). Older friend cannot do it these days.
This week it’s Avon with the food truck next Monday. A visit from older friend is possible, although these days that isn’t easy. Lunch lady is expected back on Friday. The internet’s billing merely should be coming. It seems the internet access only sometimes is available. Either there is something wrong with the computer or it is not too good of a system, unstable and without explanation. It died a few times for an extended period. There may be needs for more trips to the basement.
Looking ahead in a fog is difficult.
Young friend was able to come Tuesday and again took care of several things not covered by the usual means. Money orders for the rent are now in hand, although a bit early. He also deposited two checks that were in need of deposit, got pizza again to cover for the food truck, picked up post office box mail, left a note at the non-responding legal place and went for vitamins at the drug store. He is not expected back for maybe several weeks. That’s maybe. He is emergency help.
Older friend did come both yesterday and Wednesday as he had some free time mid-week. The plants got watered and grocery items were brought. He also covered some missing aide stuff when he came. (That, of course, is still in a stew.) Lunch lady still being off sick, that stuff came “as possible,” it being very late Friday. The internet connection is in place and is working okay. A note keeps popping up, however, that suggests it is unsecured wireless. The Avon arrived okay.
In addition to a half dozen routines falling apart and being covered catch as can, there has been an increased difficulty breathing. It does not seem likely that it’s the weather as that hasn’t been much over 85 degrees. Possibly being upset the half-dozen ways is a contributing factor, but that’s not certain as things are better after the inhaler’s used. This coming week has neither the food truck nor Avon, so there is less to do, which should show if there is “deterioration.”
Running around in circles isn’t good.
The lunch lady didn’t come as expect on Friday. She got hurt somehow and will be off for two weeks. After publishing time last time, it was learned the food truck would not be showing up until July 11. Older friend got off schedule, dropped off some stuff that was expected on Saturday on Thursday, watered the plants (likewise off schedule) and came by on Sunday. On Wednesday two representatives from the service agency came by to say the aide service will continue to be in disarray.
Young friend saved part of all that by coming on Tuesday. He got the post office mail (the neighbor has been picking it up but he had to have an operation; was scheduled the 22nd), got pizza to offset the food shortage (a sub did the lunch lady’s route) and checked out a legal office that never replied. He covered a lot. The police were called on Wednesday regarding the aide service problems. There was a memorial service held in the community room Thursday for that friend who died.
The bright note? Well, there was one. A check got mailed to the company providing wireless service to the building, so as of July 1 there was again internet access without running any place to get it. The hunt goes on to try to cover the things older friend has been doing to help since his concerns aren’t all sorted out yet. Young friend is expected tomorrow. That will be a great help again if he can make it. New angles are in the works regarding aide services. They’re possible.
Belated Happy Independence Day to all.
