Well, friend didn’t stop by yesterday (Sunday) and indeed did forget to mention he had a special event to attend until late Wednesday. No substitute came, either, but given the message on Wednesday, a need for doing some unexpected things was not a suddenly overwhelming surprise. The plants got watered. A problem with the plants is that some are a shade difficult to reach and the only thing to use is the cap of the jar. Water sloshes out of it easily and onto clothes, table, etc.
There was an unexpected need for laundry due to previous days rather than the past week. Two weeks ago the emergency stuff was used. While a competent homemaker aide did come the past Wednesday, it’s best to not count on that at all. Rescue was from the lady across the hall. Attempts will have to be made with the aide, however, for things recently covered by friend as he will be occupied with a trip out of state soon. At the moment there’s a piece of mail he would have handled to do.
The doctor was scheduled for today. He does not exactly come monthly any longer. It is more like two months or so. If it will ever go back to monthly is unknown. At least someone is coming every so often. The lunch lady came as expected. The food truck, however, was short an item frequently used. That is something that may have to be covered some other way. The pizza parlor is not a preferred alternative these days as the usual one insisted on (but didn’t get) a phone number.
Tomorrows are times for hope.
Another week hath passed and the moment is definitely a time of inactivity if nothing else, although there was a powerful storming in the past week. It was, of course, as usual, the perpetual problem of aide service. It was never too good to start with and adding six-seven years of mismanagement which has been carried on, the assigning agency is out of easy and quick ways to address the matter. Well, there isn’t another way to go at present. There’s a new aide due Wednesday.
Friend came both Wednesday and yesterday. He brought things of importance Wednesday, like the money orders for the rent, plus a few grocery essentials. The Avon came Thursday. The visit was more quick and efficient than usual, a great thing given the aide garbage. The lunch lady came okay, in fact a little early which is also helpful. A lot of time was spent in bed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sick is sick, but there are degrees of sick – posting is possible due to bed rest.
Even with the best of plans, there can be problems. When the things are cut close, as they have to be when dealing with a person who is old and slower than the normal run of life, an excellent opportunity for even more problems exists, case in point: while the lunch lady was early during the week, come today she was off and there was a substitute two hours later than expected. That wiped out hope of several more hours of bed rest for today. This is just scooting by.
Professionalism seems to be a dying art.

Last Monday nearly the whole live long day there were serious thoughts to call 911 for the emergency squad. It wasn’t done because the situation was like that last trip to the hospital wherein they said it was a pulled muscle (only the doctor did figure out later it may have been something else). It took a number of hours, but eventually it did clear up as before. A good bet is what it was. That was not the only thing. Along with it breathing has been especially difficult for days.
It seems to have started getting harder to breathe Easter. in the afternoon. Nearly all the little tricks have been used a lot in the past week. And, it helped nothing to be embroiled in a to-do about the (currently non-existent) aide service to the tune of appealing to the county administration offices to do some meddling in the situation. After dozens of emails to them it finally got to the point where the insistence about a telephone number to call waned.
The lunch lady came reliably. Friend came both days and with groceries on Wednesday. He also hauled out the trash and did some carpet sweeping on Sunday. The food truck came okay and had everything, but the Avon people didn’t drop off their new brochure as expected. What the situation is there is unknown at present. At least the rent got paid all right week before last, but the mail didn’t get picked up last week. There was good news amid it all in regard to the long waiting project.
Sometimes a little message is a treasure.
It’s almost impossible to move. There is pain and thought of calling for an emergency medical team.
If things suddenly improve, there’ll be a message later.
Wishes for a good week to all.
